What is Cement?
Cement is one of key ingredients to make concrete. Cement, is in fact, a binder. It’s a substance used for construction that sets, hardens, and adheres to other materials. It helps to bind them together. Hardly ever cement is used on its own. It’s used mostly to bind sand and gravel together. There are many types of cement. Portland Blast Furnace Slag Cement (PBFSC)
Useful when it comes to massive construction projects such as dams. Its uses include being exposed to harsh environments, such as wastewater treatment and marine applications. Additionally, high-strength concrete, such as high-rise structures or 100-year service life bridges. The heat generated when water reacts in contact with the cement powder i.e. the heat of hydration is lower in this type of cement.
Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC)
Compared to the Ordinary Portland Cement, the Portland Pozzolana Cement makes concrete more impermeable and denser. The long-term strength of Pozzolana is better compared to OPC, plus it prevents cracks. It is useful when building hydraulic structures like dams and retaining walls, marine structures, and also mass concrete structures such as bridge footings under aggressive conditions.
White cement
As the name implies, it is white in colour. The chemical composition and physical properties meet the specification of ordinary Portland cement. So in a way, it is a kind of Ordinary Portland cement. This cement is largely used to increase the aesthetic value of a construction. Preferred for tiles and flooring works, it is used for architectural beauty - such as terrazzo tiles and floorings, ornamental concrete products, etc.
Oil Well Cement
Used for both off-shore and on-shore wells, Oil Well Cement composed of iron, coke, limestone and iron scrap, is the go-to cement for constructing or fixing oil wells.
Quick Setting Cement
This particular cement has the unique characteristic of being able to be sculpted and being molded, while it sets. This gives it a setting time for 10 to 15 minutes. Mainly used for underwater construction, this product is also used in rainy and cold weather conditions. For quick fixes and quick strengthening in a short period of time - this becomes the ideal product.
